What is Gutsy Film Festival?
Gutsy is a film festival celebrating the work of filmmakers living with hidden disabilities and chronic illnesses. It’s a supportive, inclusive space to showcase creativity, share stories, and connect with others.
Who can submit a film?
Anyone who identifies as having a hidden disability or chronic illness is welcome to submit their work.
Can anyone attend the event?
Yes! Everyone is welcome - whether you’re a filmmaker, part of the industry, love short films, or are interested in building a network of people living with a similar condition. We want to create a space where people feel seen, supported and inspired.
What kind of films are you looking for?
All genres are welcome! Your film doesn't need to be about illness or disability - we are interested in your voice, whatever story you are telling. The only requirement is that your film is under 12 minutes in length.
Is there a submission fee?
Nope! Submissions are completely free.
Can I submit more than one film?
Yes you are welcome to submit more than one film.
When is the deadline for submissions?
The final deadline will be in May 2027 - more details soon!
How do I submit my film?
You can submit your film via the form on our homepage.
When will the official selection be announced?
We will be announcing the official selection in mid-June 2027.

If my film is selected will I get a free ticket?
Yes! Seats will be reserved for directors of each film, other members of the crew will need to purchase tickets separately.
